Kombucha: A refreshing probiotic beverage
Kombucha is a vibrant, probiotic drink made by carefully fermenting a blend of tea, water, and organic sugar. During the fermentation process, the probiotics consume the sugars before the drink is bottled, resulting in a naturally fizzy and delightful elixir. This beverage is rich in live, active cultures, beneficial organic acids, antioxidants, and enzymes that promote healthy digestion.
The origins of kombucha
The precise origins of kombucha are somewhat unclear, but historical records suggest its existence dates back to approximately 220 B.C. in China, where it was often referred to as the “remedy for immortality.” Meanwhile, some believe that kombucha originated in Russia, where it is known as “tea kvass.”

Endorsement from Sally Fallon
“Kombucha is the cure for a hot day – it tastes delicious and refreshing. A fizzy, dark-colored, energizing beverage, at the same time acidic and slightly sweet, this gift to the world from the Ural mountain regions of Russia qualifies as the soft drink of the twenty-first century, the answer to the scourge of cola drinks that now wreak havoc with the health of Western populations.” – Sally Fallon, Nourishing Traditions
Our brewing process
We produce our Kombucha in a small facility located in Fairfield, Iowa, brewing it in small batches with high-quality filtered water, organic and fair trade teas, and organic cane juice. Our brewing process takes place in superior leach-free vessels, allowing us to monitor it closely and handle the bottling ourselves. Shaktea Kombucha is lovingly nurtured in a warm environment, accompanied by the soothing rhythms and enlightening melodies of the Veda – the timeless music of nature. We believe that every detail matters, which is why we strive to create a harmonious and peaceful atmosphere for Shaktea Kombucha’s cultivation.
What to expect when purchasing Shaktea kombucha
When you purchase Shaktea Kombucha, you may observe small strands of culture or a larger amount (known as SCOBY or affectionately referred to as “the blob,” “floaties,” “the multi-vitamin,” or “the good stuff”) in your bottle. You are welcome to drink this along with the kombucha, discard it, or even use it to start your own kombucha batch.
